In this project, we carried out a full-scale design and implementation — from structural planning to final visual aesthetics.

The centerpiece of the project is the unique architecture of the room itself: angled walls and ceilings were meticulously calculated and positioned to avoid typical acoustic pitfalls. As a result of precise modeling, the RT60 (reverberation time) was brought to an acceptable level even before any acoustic treatment was applied. Of course, additional acoustic panels and diffusers were still used, some discreetly hidden behind acoustically transparent fabric.

Another key challenge was sound insulation — ensuring that explosive action scenes and powerful subwoofer bass wouldn’t leak into the adjacent living spaces such as bedrooms and lounges. To achieve this, we employed a “room-in-a-room” construction, completely decoupled from the main structure using specialized vibration-isolating elements for the walls, ceiling, and floor.

For speakers, we developed a custom LCR solution. The front left, center, and right speakers were built to identical specifications in a D’Appolito W-MTM-W configuration, with a relatively low crossover frequency between the tweeter and midrange. This setup achieved exceptional horizontal and vertical dispersion.

Specifications of LCRs far exceeding THX standards.

For instance, the system reaches down to 25Hz at -3dB in free air and delivers in-room bass response down to 20Hz. This allowed for a seamless blend between the front speakers and LFE subwoofer channels, enhancing the realism of action-packed scenes and delivering an immersive, cinematic experience.

The surround and Atmos channels were installed directly into the walls and ceiling, using custom crossover designs that provided a wider dispersion pattern and more enveloping sound.

espite the relatively modest electronics budget, the synergy of custom speaker design and acoustical precision resulted in performance that rivals — and in many ways surpasses — that of high-end demo rooms showcased at international expos with budgets exceeding €250,000.
